 UKONS Acute Oncology Initial Management Guidelines - 

These guidelines relate to the initial assessment and immediate management of Acute Oncology patients, i.e. patients presenting with an acute problem, demonstrating symptoms deemed as having been caused by:

  • Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT)
  • Radiotherapy
  • Malignant disease
  • A previously undiagnosed cancer where an urgent oncology/haematology assessment is required

UKONS are incredibly pleased to announce that the successful and widely used UKONS Acute Oncology Initial Management Guidelines have been developed as an iOS and Android App for mobile devices. This format allows you to access vital guidance pertaining to the management of a wide range of Acute Oncology presentations in the convenience of an app on your own mobile phone or other device. 

UKONS 24 Hour Triage - The triage tool is a widely used clear symptom-based risk assessment process, that uses a RAG scoring system to triage patients who contact telephone advice lines with side effects/toxicities of Systemic Anti- Cancer Treatment.

 

 UKONS and Macmillan Primary Care Risk Assessment Tool for Oncology Haematology Patients   who are receiving or received systemic anti-cancer therapies, receiving or recently received radiotherapy or at risk of disease related immunosuppression.

It is important that the side effects of treatment are not underestimated and that the significance of symptoms is recognised.

This evidence-based risk assessment tool grades the presenting symptoms and advises action accordingly using a RAG system. It is important that the significance of lower level amber toxicities are recognised.
