Spotlight - SPINE - MSCC Education and Training - UKONS 2021 1st Prize.
The acute Oncology Team at Southport and Ormskirk NHS Trust have developed and implemented an educational programme and designed a really helpful poster "SPINE" which has been approved and adopted by the Cheshire and Merseyside Cancer Alliance - Awarded first prize at UKONS Conference 2021
They have implemented an MSCC educational programme and are happy to share the tools they have developed:
- Slide sets to support training - Medical - CNS
- A mnemonic tool to prompt practitioners of the management of suspected MSCC in the form of a really helpful poster "SPINE"
- Audit - aims and objectives:
- To identify the number of patients attending with suspected or confirmed MSCC
- To identify how many patients were known to have a cancer diagnosis
- To identify if these patients received the care as per NICE Guidance for suspected/confirmed MSCC
- To identify how many patients were confirmed MSCC -and out of those how many received treatment from a tertiary centre
- To highlight any specific areas that may need further education/support from the Acute Oncology Team
